As massive as SPY is, it's only the tip of the iceberg in the world of indexing. When you throw in all the S&P 500, Russell 1000, and Russell 3000 ETFs and index mutual funds (as well as all of their value spinoffs), the number is quite a bit higher. But you're right that the initial price spike in BRK-B was perhaps a bit overkill - shares retreated quite a bit as the premium deflated.

looks like $1 Bil of BRK-B is about 14 mil shares of the roughly 740 mil. this doesn't seems like a huge amount for there to be a boost in the price of BRK-B because of the inclusion into SPY, etc?
