The Jim Rogers Wannabe ETFdb Portfolio is now available to ETFdb Pro members, offering an option for those who wish to construct a portfolio inspired by the investment principles of legendary commodity guru Jim Rogers. This ETFdb portfolio is intended for those with a long-term investment horizon and a stomach for risk; significant weight is given to commodities, seeing as how Rogers is an outspoken commodity bull well-known for his impressive track record in the space. Jim Rogers is also idolized for his valuable contributions to the world of financial literature, along with his work with George Soros in running the wildly successful Quantum Fund.

The Jim Rogers Wannabe ETFdb Portfolio is constructed with several key principles in mind that fall in-line with Rogers’ outlook for the global economy. Rogers’ is a very big advocate for investing in commodities as he believes that agricultural prices are still depressed on a historical basis and that the current ‘commodity supercycle’ still has another 10 to 15 years to go before it runs out [see Three ETFs To Play Jim Rogers' Advice]. This model ETFdb portfolio distinguishes itself from traditional stock/bond portfolios by staying true to Rogers’ investment philosophy and allocating a significant portion of its assets to commodities. Emerging market exposure is also a key feature of this portfolio as Rogers strongly believes that Asian economies are amongst the best positioned for prosperity over the next several years.

The Jim Rogers Wannabe ETFdb Portfolio is well diversified amongst asset-classes, including allocations to commodities (25%), equities (40%), fixed income (30%), as well as currency (5%). One of the core holding of this portfolio, RJI, provides broad-based commodity exposure through the Rogers International Commodity Index, created in part by Jim Rogers himself. We have also built out the equity component of this portfolio with a focus on commodities, by selecting an interesting commodity producers ETF, which was developed in concert with the man himself. Our fixed income holdings provide access to the lucrative emerging markets bond space, with a focus on Asian debt, given Rogers’ love for this booming economic region. This portfolios is likely far too risky for retired investors given its heavy tilt towards commodities, but it may appeal to those with a bullish long-term investment horizon and a stomach for volatility.
