PowerShares, one of the largest players in the U.S. ETF industry, announced this week that it has expanded its geographic coverage through a series of cross-listings in Mexico. Effective March 11, 38 PowerShares ETFs were cross-listed on the international segment of Bolsa Mexicana de Valores (BMV). Previously, another ten PowerShares products were trading in Mexico.
“We are very excited to be expanding the range of ETF solutions available to institutional investors in Mexico,” said Ben Fulton, Invesco PowerShares managing director of global ETFs. “We believe there will be strong demand from investors for our innovative family of peso-denominated ETFs that provide efficient access to a wide selection of global opportunities.” The cross-listed ETFs trade through Mexican Depository Receipts, and PowerShares appointed local divisions of Deutsche Bank and J.P. Morgan to act as the sponsoring brokers.
Last April, WisdomTree announced that it was cross-listing nine of its ETFs on the BMV, including both equity and currency products.
