September saw a nice turnaround from previous months as far as the ETF industry is concerned. While many felt the sting of the summer slowdown, questioning whether or not the overall industry was screeching to a halt. This past month, however, put the industry right back on track with 36 new products debuting, a fairly robust four week period.
September’s launch total brings us to 247 new products in 2011, already beating out the 230 that hit markets in all of 2010, and with all of Q4 to spare. But while the ETF world seems to have found its footing again, global markets are of grave concern.
The past month saw heavy turmoil from all around the world as well as a major move from the Fed. Bernanke & Company outlined “Operation Twist” to try and boost a sputtering economy, though many feel that the actions will be too little too late, as a number of analysts are already clamoring for a recession.
