August was the slowest month of the summer with issuers only introducing five new ETPs. However, sixteen ETFs have closed this month behind a summer of failing consumer confidence. Fifteen of these closures are coming from FocusShares, ScottTrade’s ETF branch, which is scrapping everything due to failure to capture significant assets. The lack of new competition and so many closures only leaves more room for these new funds to shine and provide investors with new strategies to grow their portfolios.
