This ETN seeks to replicate an performance of natural gas futures by tracking the Barclays Capital Natural Gas Seasonal TR Index. This benchmark reflects the returns that are potentially available by maintaining an unleveraged investment in a rolling position in Henry Hub Natural Gas futures contracts plus the rate of interest that could be earned on cash collateral invested in specified Treasury Bills. Natural gas is vital to electricity generation and is often heavily impacted by changes in weather to either extreme. As such, it can be a great play on volatile weather patterns in the U.S., be it snowstorms, heat waves, or hurricanes. Besides this fund, investors have a few other options to invest in natural gas including UNG and NAGS. These each have their own pros and cons in terms of investing in the fuel and dealing with the issues of contango so be sure to look at each fund to figure out which product is correct for your investment situation.
