This ETP offers an opportunity to access large cap U.S. stocks selected from the DJIA based on dividend yield. The ten companies that have the highest yield in the index of 30 companies are selected for inclusion in this fund. This means that, generally speaking, this fund will have very large and safe companies that pay out outsized yields relative to their blue chip brethren. While this may sound appealing, ultimately this ETN is little more than an expensive, gimmicky product that the ETF lineup could do without. All of the holdings in the fund are ones that investors could buy in their own portfolios very easily and a similar strategy wouldn't be that hard to do either, after all there are only ten securities in the fund at any given time. If you are interested in DOD, make sure to use limit orders; the spreads on this fund can be enormous. Other potential drawbacks include the credit risk component (DOD is an ETN) and a huge expense ratio. There are much better options out there for total market value exposure; steer clear of DOD at all costs.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for DOD on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating.
