This ETN offers exposure to intermediate-term Treasuries, an asset class that may be appealing to investors looking for debt that has little credit risk but may deliver higher yields (and interest rate risk) than those closer to expiration. DTYL is unique within the Government Bonds ETFdb Category for several reasons. First, the underlying index consists not of government bonds, but of futures contracts. And as an ETN, this product will have no tracking error but does exposure investors to the credit risk of the issuing institution. DTYL's targeted focus makes it of little use to the majority of investors, as those seeking broad-based government bond exposure have better options available to them. The biggest drawback of DTYL is the hefty price tag, which will cancel out a significant portion of the yield generated in most environments. Investors would be better served to utilize a more cost-efficient ETF, such as the similarly-focused IEF or TENZ.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for DTYL on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating. The "A+ Metric Rated ETF" field, available to ETFdb Pro members, shows the ETF in the Government Bonds with the highest Metric Realtime Rating for each individual field.
