This fund hit the market in early 2012 with a focused strategy designed to offer exposure to a granular sector of emerging markets. EEML focuses its assets on Latin America, giving investors the diversity of several nations, while still focusing on a key area in the world. The fund holds over 125 securities with 43% of total assets dedicated to the top ten holdings; while this diversification is not the best in the space, it is certainly not the worst. As far as sectors are concerned, EEML has a tilt towards basic materials, financial services, and consumer sectors. Perhaps the most important aspect of the ETF is its respective country breakdown. Investors will notice that the fund has an overwhelming bias towards Brazil, which accounts for nearly two thirds of overall assets. Mexico, Chile, and Colombia all make appearances, but so does the United States, diluting the purity of EEML’s strategy. Finally, the fund’s expense ratio is on the lower side, making it a more affordable option for cost conscious investors.
