This ETF offers a way to access the consumer discretionary market outside of the U.S. As such IPD could be useful for investors implementing ex-U.S. sector rotation strategies, and could also be useful as part of a long/short pairs trade (for example, long IPD / short XLY). This ETF might also be useful for investors with an interest in betting more heavily on the consumer discretionary sector--which can exhibit greater volatility than the overall market--without gaining exposure to domestic stock markets. IPD consists almost exclusively of developed market stocks and is tilted heavily towards western Europe--two factors that will impact the risk/return profile. This fund is well balanced in terms of individual securities, with more than 100 components and a relatively minor allocation to the largest stocks.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for IPD on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating. The "A+ Metric Rated ETF" field, available to ETFdb Pro members, shows the ETF in the Consumer Discretionary Equities with the highest Metric Realtime Rating for each individual field.
