This ETF is a way to invest in the infrastructure sector of emerging markets, offering exposure to construction and engineering companies that are responsible for infrastructure buildouts expected to occur in the developing world throughout coming decades. Investors seeking broad-based emerging markets exposure for a long-term portfolio probably have little use for a fund such as PXR, but this ETF can be useful for investors looking to implement a tactical overlay or increase exposure to this often overlooked corner of emerging economies. PXR does an excellent job on the diversification front, spreading exposure evenly across the basket of component securities and including more than a dozen different markets. And while PXR is considerably more expensive than some broad-based emerging markets ETFs, the fees are reasonable given the level of granularity offered. EMIF is another option that provides similar exposure, while funds such as CHXX, BRXX, and INXX offer more targeted exposure to infrastructure sectors in individual BRIC members.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for PXR on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating. The "A+ Metric Rated ETF" field, available to ETFdb Pro members, shows the ETF in the Utilities Equities with the highest Metric Realtime Rating for each individual field.
