This ETP is designed to deliver exposure to a strategy that will perform well if the Treasury yield curve steepens, meaning that long-dated issues see yields rise at a greater pace than short-term debt. STPP accomplishes this objective by replicating an index that consists of a notional rolling investment in the U.S. Treasury note futures curve, a unique strategy that will have potentially significant ramifications for risk/return. STPP is designed for a very specific investment purpose, and as such has very little use to the vast majority of investors; those seeking broad Treasury exposure would be better off with any of the many ETFs that focuses on this corner of the bond market. It's worth noting that STPP is an ETN, and as such exposes investors to the credit risk of the issuing institution. The expense structure should also be noted; the hefty fees charged will offset a major chunk of returns generated in many environments.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for STPP on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating.
