In 2011, Columbia acquired Grail Advisors and the company's suite of ETFs. Founded in 2009, Grail Advisors was a pioneer of actively managed exchange-traded funds. They launched their first ETF product in June 2009, the Grail American Beacon Large Cap Value ETF.
