Despite the impressive performance from a number of different commodities, inflows into commodity ETFs have been light in 2010. After more than $30 billion flowed into commodity ETPs in 2009, inflows through the first ten months totaled only about $10 billion–almost all of which was attributable to physically-backed gold products.
As world population levels have surged along with developing economies, an increased focus as been put on natural resource development and production in order to increase the average standard of living for the world’s nearly 7 billion people. This rapid increase–along with a variety of natural disasters, such as the devastating wheat crisis in Russia earlier this summer–has put a premium on the world’s natural resources and the companies that harvest or develop them. Following this trend, a number of ETF providers have stepped in to give investors access to this increasingly important sector. The newest foray into this market segment came earlier today when State Street, the Boston based ETF giant best known for its S&P 500 SPDR (SPY) and gold ETF (GLD), launched the newest addition to its product lineup, the Global Natural Resources ETF (GNR). The new fund will track the S&P Global Natural Resources Index, which [...]
Click here to read the original article on ETFdb.com.

Related Posts:

Global X Files For Oil Equities ETF

More Ideas For “Contango-Free” Commodity Access

This Week in ETFs: October 30th Edition

Inflation ETF Special: 25 ETF Ideas To Fight Rising Prices

Van Eck Slashes Fees On Five ETFs

<IMG SRC="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/N3220.etfdb.comOX20380/B6170340.6;sz=1x1;pc=[TPAS_ID];ord=[timestamp]?"
Last week, Jefferies Asset Management unveiled two new exchange-traded funds targeting equities of global commodity producers. The two funds, which track subsets of the Thomson Reuters/ Jefferies CRB In-The-Ground Global Commodity Index tracked by CRBQ, invest in companies across the globe that are involved in the extraction and production of commodities. CRBI seeks to track the Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB In-The-Ground Global Industrial Metals Equity Index, which focuses on companies that produce industrial metals such as aluminum and steel. Meanwhile CRBA tracks Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB In-The-Ground Global Agriculture Equity Index which follows companies that produce seeds, fertilizers and companies that assist in agricultural production. Both funds have ALPS as their investment adviser, hold about 35 individual equities, and have an expense ratio of 0.65%. CRBA is much more weighted towards North American firms, with all three of the top holdings coming from either the United States or Canada, including Archer Daniels [...]
Click here to read the original article on ETFdb.com.

Related Posts:

December ETF Roundup: Launches, Filings, and Closures

Two Commodity Producer ETFs To Liquidate

Agribusiness ETFs: Comparing All The Options

Global X Joins Auto ETF Race

Global X Files For Oil Equities ETF

<IMG SRC="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/N3220.etfdb.comOX20380/B6170340.6;sz=1x1;pc=[TPAS_ID];ord=[timestamp]?" New Fund Launches A total of 12 new ETFs were launched in September, ranging from plain vanilla iShares ETFs to a physically-backed Swiss Gold ETF from ETF Securities to an actively-managed fund run by best-selling author and well-known investor Harry Dent. ETFs added to our ETF Screener this month include: ETFS Physical Swiss Gold Shares (SGOL): This ETF has already proven itself to be a viable competitor to GLD, accumulating $100 million in assets in its first month of trading.
