		<description><![CDATA[UBS rolled out two new ETNs on Thursday, debuting products that offer exposure to Internet-related companies that have recently completed an initial public offering (IPO). The new ETRACS Internet IPO ETN (EIPO) is linked to the UBS Internet IPO Index, a benchmark that consists of companies that maintain operations focused on the Internet that have gone public over the last three years. The underlying portfolio includes many of the companies that have recently completed high profile IPOs, such as Pandora Media, OpenTable, and LinkedIn. In order to be included in the underlying index, companies must fall into one of three GICS Industry designations: Internet Software &#38; Services, Internet &#38; Catalog Retail, or Media. UBS also launched a monthly leveraged product linked to the same index, the Monthly 2xLeveraged Internet IPO (EIPL). 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[UBS rolled out two new ETNs on Thursday, debuting products that offer exposure to Internet-related companies that have recently completed an initial public offering (IPO). The new ETRACS Internet IPO ETN (EIPO) is linked to the UBS Internet IPO Index, a benchmark that consists of companies that maintain operations focused on the Internet that have gone public over the last three years. The underlying portfolio includes many of the companies that have recently completed high profile IPOs, such as Pandora Media, OpenTable, and LinkedIn. In order to be included in the underlying index, companies must fall into one of three GICS Industry designations: Internet Software &#38; Services, Internet &#38; Catalog Retail, or Media. UBS also launched a monthly leveraged product linked to the same index, the Monthly 2xLeveraged Internet IPO (EIPL). 		<description><![CDATA[The Independence Day-shortened week was a tumultuous one for markets as stocks stayed flat for much of Tuesday and Wednesday only to soar higher in Thursday&#8217;s session on hopes of a jobs recovery. Unfortunately, this was quickly dispelled by a horrendous June jobs report which saw just 14,000 jobs created in the month, helping to push the national unemployment rate up to 9.2%. This caused stocks to sell-off heavily going into the weekend and pretty much erased any optimism that the markets had built up in the last few days. Meanwhile, overseas, Greece stayed out of the spotlight and was overshadowed by Portugal which was downgraded to junk status by Moody&#8217;s sending European markets into a tailspin as fears over a debt contagion hits markets around the periphery. 		<description><![CDATA[Trading volumes have slumped on Wall Street in recent sessions, as most investors have waited anxiously for another earnings season to give the markets direction and offer an assessment of the recovery. This season got off to a hot start; aluminum manufacturer Alcoa and train operator CSX posted solid earnings, which helped to buoy the markets to start the week. Intel then crushed estimates, posting its highest quarterly profit in more than a decade. But despite the bullish report from the computer chip maker, markets stayed flat yesterday after the Fed trimmed its expectations for growth in the overall economy and job creation. Now all eyes will focus on Google (GOOG), which will post its second quarter earnings after the bell today. Investors will be eager to see if the search giant can live up to expectations, and give the tech sector a boost in the process. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[Trading volumes have slumped on Wall Street in recent sessions, as most investors have waited anxiously for another earnings season to give the markets direction and offer an assessment of the recovery. This season got off to a hot start; aluminum manufacturer Alcoa and train operator CSX posted solid earnings, which helped to buoy the markets to start the week. Intel then crushed estimates, posting its highest quarterly profit in more than a decade. But despite the bullish report from the computer chip maker, markets stayed flat yesterday after the Fed trimmed its expectations for growth in the overall economy and job creation. Now all eyes will focus on Google (GOOG), which will post its second quarter earnings after the bell today. 		<description><![CDATA[Microsoft reported solid earnings earlier today,  sending shares more than 7% higher in early trading.  Although sales were down more than 14% compared to last year and net profits fell more than 18%, investors were encouraged by strong early results for Windows 7 (which created $1.5 billion in deferred revenue from customers who bought a Windows Upgrade Option and to retailers who bought the new product). Microsoft also announced that the company will restart its share repurchase program, buying back over $1.4 billion this quarter after not buying any back the past two quarters. This comes as good news to Microsoft investors as the computer giant increased its cash reserves to a staggering $36.7 billion. Meanwhile, Amazon.com posted an excellent quarter in which they reported a 69% increase in third quarter profit. 		<description><![CDATA[The sale of Skype that was rumored last week appears to be close to reality, as San Jose-based company eBay is poised to sell the company to a group of investors headed by private equity firm Silver Lake Partners. Under the terms of the deal, eBay will receive about $1.9 billion in cash and a note for another $125 million for a 65% interest in the company. The deal values Skype at about $2.75 billion. EBay&#8217;s total purchase price for the unit topped $3 billion in September 2005, and the company eventually wrote off most of the acquisition on its books after encountering difficulties integrating Skype. Despite the fact that the purchase price is at the high end of analyst expectations, the reaction to the deal hasn&#8217;t been completely positive.
