Investors were more than happy to see a big jump in consumer confidence as well as an encouraging GDP report, both of which boosted confidence in the recovery. The biggest surprise on Wall Street was Ben Bernanke&#8217;s testimony before Congress; the Fed Chairman sparked volatile trading after he gave no indication that there would be an additional round of quantitative easing like many had anticipated [see Gold Hits Resistance, Time To Worry?]. While some progress was definitely made in the negotiations, this week&#8217;s summit could play a key role in determining the long term future of the currency bloc. Beyond these events, investors also cheered the results of earnings season as a number of key companies gave their quarterly updates. Nevertheless, broad markets rose over the past five days while bonds and other safe havens such as gold continued to slump, posting modest losses in the time period. However, it should be noted that this could quickly reverse if European trading remains choppy and investors [...]<p><a href="http://etfdb.com/2011/three-etfs-to-watch-this-week-gdx-hhh-ibb/">Click here to read the original article on ETFdb.com.</a></p><h3 class='related_post_title'>Related Posts:</h3><ul class='related_post'><li><a href='http://etfdb.com/2012/how-to-find-the-best-gold-miner-etf/' title='How To Find The Best Gold Miner ETF'>How To Find The Best Gold Miner ETF</a></li><li><a href='http://etfdb.com/2011/wednesdays-etf-to-watch-internet-holdrs-hhh/' title='Wednesday&#8217;s ETF To Watch: Internet HOLDRS (HHH)'>Wednesday&#8217;s ETF To Watch: Internet HOLDRS (HHH)</a></li><li><a href='http://etfdb.com/2011/three-etfs-to-watch-this-week-gdx-ppa-epu/' title='Three ETFs To Watch This Week: GDX, PPA, EPU'>Three ETFs To Watch This Week: GDX, PPA, EPU</a></li><li><a href='http://etfdb.com/2011/seven-surprising-etf-holdings-why-investors-should-always-look-under-the-hood/' title='Seven Surprising ETF Holdings: Why Investors Should Always Look Under The Hood'>Seven Surprising ETF Holdings: Why Investors Should Always Look Under The Hood</a></li><li><a href='http://etfdb.com/2011/thursdays-etf-to-watch-gold-miners-etf-gdx/' title='Thursday&#8217;s ETF To Watch: Gold Miners ETF (GDX)'>Thursday&#8217;s ETF To Watch: Gold Miners ETF (GDX)</a></li></ul><p><p align="center"><a href="http://ad.doubleclick.net/clk;251125313;75591701;x;pc=[TPAS_ID]"><img src="http://etfdb.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/01/etracs_us_468x60.gif" alt="" border="0"/></a><IMG SRC="http://ad.doubleclick.net/ad/N3220.etfdb.comOX20380/B6170340.6;sz=1x1;pc=[TPAS_ID];ord=[timestamp]?"
