AdvisorShares, one of the largest issuers of actively-managed ETFs, has forged a partnership to bring an active sector rotation ETF to market. The new Rockledge SectorSAM ETF (SSAM), which began trading Thursday, will seek to generate stable and consistent returns in all market conditions, developing a dollar neutral portfolio comprised of sector ETFs. The new ETF will utilize the Sector Scoring and Allocation Methodology (“SSAM”), a technique based on a proprietary quantitative analysis model that forecasts the projected returns to various sectors of the U.S. economy. The ETF will establish long positions in sector ETFs that are expected to outperform the S&P 500 and short positions in those that are expected to underperform that benchmark. The result is a dollar neutral portfolio that will effectively capture the delta between the long and short positions–meaning that SSAM has the potential to deliver positive returns regardless of whether the S&P 500 is rallying [...]
Click here to read the original article on ETFdb.com.

Related Posts:

ETFs & Sector Rotation: Large Cap, Small Cap, Or International?

Sector ETFs During The Correction: XLE Slides, XLP Holds Ground

<a href='http://etfdb.com/2010/all-better-now-many-etfs-climb-back-near-pre-recession-levels/' title='All Better Now?
Today saw markets hold their ground after yesterday’s strong performance. The day finished out with the Dow adding 32 points and the S&P 500 jumping 0.22%. 10 year bonds saw a healthy jump of nearly 2%, giving investors hope that the positive figures that have been rolling in for the U.S. are starting to piece the economy back together. Gold saw another day of correlation, as it returned 0.12% for investors who are growing tired of watching the precious metal move in tandem with equities. Crude oil was one of the biggest commodity stories, as the fossil fuel tacked on roughly $1.34 per barrel as it inches back towards the triple digit mark [see also Gold And Silver In A Correlation Bubble?]. That period in time saw numerous businesses struggle with soaring crude prices, a good example being U.S. airline Skybus, who was forced to go out of business due to profits being severely pinched by jumps in crude. Then tragedy struck as markets took a nose dive, bringing oil prices back down to earth, where they remained, until recently. Since early 2011, when revolutions and crises broke out in various countries all across the Middle East, oil has enjoyed strong gains. Investors watched crude jump above the important $100 per barrel mark, and continue to nearly $120. While oil spikes has negative ramifications for consumers and businesses alike, investors are scrambling to find the right picks to benefit [...]
Click here to read the original article on ETFdb.com.

Related Posts:

Five ETFs To Hedge Against Skyrocketing Gas Prices

Morgan Stanley Rolls Out Oil-Linked S&P 500 ETN (BARL)

April ETF Data: Assets Set Record, EEM Strikes Back

IndexIQ Debuts Global Oil Small Cap ETF (IOIL)

Don’t Fight The Curve: Five Commodity ETFs in Backwardation
