From a product development perspective, 2010 was a record year for the ETF industry in more ways than one. More than 200 new exchange-traded products began trading over the last year; the flurry began with the introduction of target date municipal bond ETFs from iShares in early January, and the new products kept coming through December when ProShares launched its RAFI Long/Short ETF (RALS). Along the way, new products debuted in more than 50 different ETFdb Categories and came from more than 30 different issuers, representing a wide variety of asset classes, regions, and investment strategies.
