4 ETFs to Trade Treasury Notes with Triple the Leverage

The U.S.-China trade war continues to move the capital markets as news flip flops on a trade deal being close to done and then later on, both sides being world apart from an ironclad deal. For traders, however, this creates an environment of volatility that can not only move equities, but also Treasury notes via these four Direxion Investments ETFs.

Wednesday’s trading session saw benchmark Treasury yields decline as trade war uncertainty brought back more risk-off maneuvers from investors. As such, Treasury prices went higher, which appeased the bond bulls.

“Treasury yields fell on Wednesday after rekindled trade uncertainty fueled investor demand for safer assets like U.S. debt,” a CNBC report noted. “The yield on the benchmark 10-year Treasury note fell to 1.8843%, while the yield on the 30-year Treasury bond was also lower at around 2.36%.”

Of course, should positive news hit the markets on a trade deal, it can swing the other way on Treasurys. As such, here are four ETFs to trade Treasurys:

  1. Direxion Daily 20+ Year Treasury Bull 3X Shares (TMF C+): seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 300% of the daily performance of the ICE U.S. Treasury 20+ Year Bond Index. The index is a market value weighted index that includes publicly issued U.S. Treasury securities that have a remaining maturity of greater than 20 years.
  2. Direxion Daily 20+ Year Treasury Bear 3X ETF TMV: seeks daily investment results before fees and expenses of 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the daily performance of the ICE U.S. Treasury 20+ Year Bond Index. The index is a market value weighted index that includes publicly issued U.S. Treasury securities that have a remaining maturity of greater than 20 years.
  3. Direxion Daily 7-10 Year Treasury Bull 3X Shares (TYD B-): seeks daily investment results, before fees and expenses, of 300% of the daily performance of the ICE U.S. Treasury 7-10 Year Bond Index. The index is a market value weighted index that includes publicly issued U.S. Treasury securities that have a remaining maturity of greater than seven years and less than or equal to ten years.
  4. Direxion Daily 7-10 Year Treasury Bear 3X Shares (TYO B): seeks daily investment results before fees and expenses of 300% of the inverse (or opposite) of the daily performance of the ICE U.S. Treasury 7-10 Year Bond Index. The index is a market value weighted index that includes publicly issued U.S. Treasury securities that have a remaining maturity of greater than seven years and less than or equal to ten years.
