This ETF focuses on investment grade corporate debt that is scheduled to mature in 2019, giving investors a tool to obtain very targeted fixed income exposure. BSCJ will behave in the same way as an individual bond would; the interest rate risk will decline over time, and there will ultimately be a return of the initial investment when the underlying bonds mature and the portfolio converts to cash. That makes BSCJ unique from the majority of fixed income ETFs that maintain a relatively constant effective duration and operate in perpetuity. While BSCJ delivers an experience similar to that of investing in an individual bond, it also brings the immediate diversification across issuers and sectors that can dramatically reduce overall risk. BSCJ can be useful in a number of different ways. For investors planning against future obligations, the known maturity date on this position may allow them to match assets with liabilities. BSCJ can also be useful as a tool for fine tuning interest rate exposure for investors aiming for a specific duration on their fixed income portfolio. In addition to BSCJ, Guggenheim offers a lineup of several other target maturity date corporate bond ETFs maturing in various years.
