This ETF offers exposure to a corner to the Chinese equity market overlooked by almost all other China ETFs: A-shares that trade on domestic exchanges and are denominated in the local currenty (renminbi). These companies often include firms that may be more of a "pure play" on the Chinese economy, meaning that PEK can be a nice tool for investors looking to round out their China exposure. PEK also has some risk factors not found in other China ETFs: the underlying holdings are swaps, and this product has historically traded at a considerable premium to NAV--a result of the nuances of the creation/redemption mechanism and restrictions on supply of A-Shares.
The adjacent table gives investors an individual Realtime Rating for PEK on several different metrics, including liquidity, expenses, performance, volatility, dividend, concentration of holdings in addition to an overall rating. The "A+ Metric Rated ETF" field, available to ETFdb Pro members, shows the ETF in the China Equities with the highest Metric Realtime Rating for each individual field.
