Bitwise Asset Management has expanded its ETF lineup with the launch of the Bitwise GME Option Income Strategy ETF (IGME) on NYSE Arca today. According to the prospectus, IGME will not hold any GameStop shares. Instead, the fund will implement a sophisticated options-only strategy. It will use both calls and puts to generate monthly income. This structure allows the fund to harvest volatility. That’s a hallmark of meme stocks like GME, without direct equity exposure.
Convergence of Corporate Finance & Crypto
Following GameStop recently announcing the adoption of bitcoin as a Treasury reserve asset, Bitwise Head of Alpha Strategies Jeff Park says the firm sees a unique opportunity to pair options income with the broader narrative of digital asset integration into legacy companies.
“IGME is the first covered call strategy built around [GameStop. That’s] a stock whose historic volatility and growth potential make it a strong fit for this approach,” said Park in a press release. “With IGME, investors now have access to an option income ETF based on an equity that sits at the intersection of three [elements. Those are] retail investor popularity, a traditional revenue-generating business, and digital asset adoption.”
Park will manage the fund alongside co-managers Jennifer Thornton, Daniela Padilla, and Gayatri Choudhury.
IGME carries a 0.98% expense ratio. Additionally, Bitwise designed the ETF to generate regular income for investors with distributions expected to begin on July 24.
Part of a Broader Strategy
IGME is the fourth covered call strategy launched by Bitwise in 2025. Earlier this year, Bitwise launched the Bitwise MSTR Option Income Strategy ETF (IMST), the Bitwise COIN Option Income Strategy ETF (ICOI), and the Bitwise MARA Option Income Strategy ETF (IMRA).
“Bitwise has established itself as a leader in the crypto ETF space. Their expertise in this area is noteworthy,” said Todd Rosenbluth, head of research at VettaFi. “This new fund further expands their offerings, which is great to see.”
Bitwise also manages the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF Trust (BITB ) and Bitwise Ethereum ETF (ETHW ), Those are two of the more established crypto-focused ETFs in the market.
