JB Wealth Management Founder and President Jason Baucom shared an overview of his practice at Exchange 2025. In the latest video interview, Baucom discussed his firm’s investment philosophy, commitment to helping women, and his views on the Exchange conference.
Baucom on His Investment Approach
“Our investment philosophy is definitely long term,” Baucom said. For him, long term can be a wide range of years. “We have some clients that are 20 years old and we have some clients that are 80 years old.” Accordingly, he works to set people up for retirement, with an emphasis on retirement planning and income planning. Baucom also stressed the importance of dignity and long-term care.
Baucom Focuses on Women Investors
JB Wealth Management has a special focus on women investors. “Mom was a teacher for 35 years,” he shared. “Her best friends are all women, they are all teachers.” Baucom offered that growing up with his mother and her friends made him a better listener. “You are listening to them teach you all the time.” Investing has traditionally been a male field. That said, he believes women are increasingly getting to control a more fair share of the investment pie. Accordingly, creating a more egalitarian practice to help them make use of those investments is important.
Exchange Opens the Door to New Perspectives
Asked why he was attending the Exchange conference, Baucom shared that a big draw was the cross-pollination of ideas. “Not everyone has the same perspective on investments, ETFs, mutual funds, whatever investment vehicles are out there. And you get to see what’s underneath the hood,” he explained.
Baucom appreciated the ability to hear eloquent speakers outline their investment strategies and explain their reasonings: “One of my favorite session definitely was with [Dr.] David Kelly.” Baucom appreciated that Dr. Kelly didn’t necessarily infuse a political view into his ideas and instead focused on the macro level.
“Exchange is different. It’s sort of focused on advisors, but everyone here is here to learn something,” added Baucom
