Buy on the Dip Prospects: January 21 Edition

Sneha ShahJan 21, 2026
2026-01-21

Below is a look at ETFs that currently offer attractive buying opportunities.

The ETFs included in this list are rated as buy candidates for two reasons. First, each of these funds is deemed to be in an uptrend based on the fact that its 50-day moving average is above its 200-day moving average, which are popular indicators for gauging long-term and medium-term trends, respectively.

Second, each of these ETFs is also trading below its five-day moving average, thereby offering a near-term ‘buy on the dip’ opportunity, given the longer-term uptrend at hand. Note that this prospects list also features a liquidity screen by excluding ETFs with average trading volumes below the one million shares mark. As always, investors of all experience levels are advised to use stop-loss orders and practice disciplined profit-taking techniques.

  • 55 ETFs made it to the buy on the dip prospects list. Stocks fell after Trump’s tariff threats on European nations, triggered by their opposition to his Greenland acquisition plan, reigniting fears of a global trade war.
  • Direxion Daily FTSE China Bull 3X Shares (YINN A+) topped the buy on the dip list. China successfully met its 2025 growth target behind record export performance, even in the face of heightened US tariffs. However, cooling quarterly momentum and soft consumer demand continue to fuel skepticism regarding the economy’s long-term health.
  • Several Nvidia-focused funds like GraniteShares 2x Long NVDA Daily ETF (NVDL B+) and T-REX 2X Long NVIDIA Daily Target ETF (NVDX A) featured on the list. Nvidia shares slipped following CES 2026 as the market looked past its ambitious humanoid robot and self-driving AI reveals to focus on near-term chip earnings. The decline reflects a “sell-the-news” reaction despite the company’s aggressive expansion into physical AI and autonomous systems.
  • The Magnificent Seven ETF (MAGS A-) ranked among the buy on the dip contenders amid maturing AI trade and retail investors’ pull-back. Check out our Technology Equities ETFs’ list here
  • iShares U.S. Telecommunications ETF (IYZ A+) and Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLC A) were buy on the dip candidates. Telecom and communication stocks are experiencing pressure in early 2026 due to escalating wireless price wars, increased promotional spending, intensifying competition from fiber and FWA, and broader tech sector volatility linked to potential new tariffs, leading analysts to expect rangebound performance and a shift towards monetizing existing growth rather than aggressive expansion.
  • NASDAQ-100 Index-focused ETFs like ProShares UltraPro QQQ (TQQQ A) and ProShares Ultra QQQ (QLD A), and S&P 500 Index-focused ETFs like SPDR Portfolio S&P 500 Growth ETF (SPYG B+) and iShares S&P 500 Growth ETF (IVW B+) also made it to the list. U.S. stocks ended mostly flat as investors weighed comments on geopolitics and the Federal Reserve from President Donald Trump, as well as digested quarterly reports from some major companies, marking the start of the earnings season.
