Analyst Report

The Invesco S&P International Developed Momentum ETF tracks an index of large- and mid-cap developed market stocks that have had better recent price performance compared with peers. The fund excludes the U.S. and South Korea. The methodology measures the percentage change in stock prices over the past year, excluding the most recent month, and then adjusts for volatility. The top 20% are included in the index. Money managers have long recognized that certain factors, when deployed during certain market conditions, consistently reward investors. Factor ETFs have proliferated in recent years and there are many active and passive ETF options that target different factors. Some funds combine factors while others target a single factor. Fund fees are reasonable though there are lower-cost options in developed markets. Investors should note that IDMO invests in a significantly narrower universe of developed market stocks, making the strategy too targeted for most buy-and-hold investors. However, IDMO could be a good choice for tactical traders looking to overweight momentum in developed markets. Prior to March 18, 2016, EEMO tracks a different developed markets index.
